Content
Training includes:
- The theoretical background behind the risk of fuel tank safety: the explosions of mixtures of fuel and air, the behaviour of those mixtures in an aviation environment, the effects of temperature and pressure, energy needed for ignition etc, the ‘fire triangle’. 2 concepts to prevent explosions:
- ignition source prevention and;
- flammability reduction.
- A short background showing examples of FTS accidents or incidents;
- The description of concept of fuel tank safety and CDCCL;
- Some examples of manufacturers documents showing CDCCL items;
- Typical examples of FTS defects;
- Some examples of TC holders repair data;
- Some examples of maintenance instructions for inspection.
Objectives
Fuel Tank Safety (Phase 2) training course is dedicated to personnel involved in the aviation maintenance in accordance with Appendix IV to AMC to 145.A.30 (e) and Appendix XII to AMC to M.A.706 (f).
Target Group
The regulations require the following personnel to be trained in Fuel Tank Safety:
for phase I maintenance organisation management personnel, quality auditors, competent authority personnel;
for phase II personnel of the Part-145 organisation required to plan, perform supervise, inspect and certify the maintenance of aircraft and fuel system componenets;
personnel of the M.A. Subpart G organisation involved in the management and review of the continuing airworthiness of aircraft

Prerequisites
Familiarity with relevant regulations.
Examination
Closed book examinations will be conducted throughout the course. The minimum passing mark for the exam paper is 75 %. Knowledge and skills assessment during practical training.
